Starting his career by completing an engineering apprenticeship as a Toolmaker, Derek progressed to hold engineering and management positions in medical device manufacture and general management in specialist metal fabrication, before beginning a career in interim management which has spanned over 20 years across a range of sectors.

Derek also holds a BA degree in Business Studies, a Master’s degree in Business Improvement, along with an ILM Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. As a believer in continuous study he has completed a range of courses including the Role of the Non-Executive Director, the Role of the Company Chairman and Coaching for Directors with the Institute of Directors, London.

Derek has been involved in community based voluntary work for over 30 years working with churches and organisations as a trustee and providing advisory support. He has also taken part in overseas missions projects including the building of a school in Uganda, Africa.

Married with a grown-up family, health and fitness also plays a big part in Derek’s life and he can be seen in a Crossfit gym several times a week.
